Trivia[]
- Karli has shown prodigious intelligence for his age. When listening their fellow riders on the expedition arguing about sailing off the edge of the world, Hild tells Karli that she believes that the Earth is a sphere and explains her theory. Having understood the concept, Karli then asks "If you go awound and awound... you don't faww off? So the midduw pawt is down?," implying that he could conceptualize the sphere and understand the material relationships between themselves and living on the sphere. Hild remarks to herself that grasping her theory makes Karli, at only four, smarter than most grown men.[2]
