Season 1 is the first season of the Vinland Saga (ヴィンランド・サガ Vinrando Saga?) anime, based on the Vinland Saga manga by Makoto Yukimura. It adapts the first 54 chapters of the manga (the War Arc).
Background[]
Season 1 of Vinland Saga was animated by Wit Studio. It began airing in Japan on 08 July 2019, on Japan's national broadcaster NHK. Season 1 ran for 24 episodes and covered the first 54 chapters of the manga, with the season finale airing on 29 December 2019. Amazon licensed the series for English release (subtitled) and streamed it worldwide via its subscription service Amazon Prime, airing the first episode one day prior to the Japanese premiere date.
Sentai Filmworks acquired exclusive home video rights to Vinland Saga. In June 2021, they announced the Season 1 Blu-ray would be released on 31 August 2021, including the Japanese version, the English subtitles, and a new English dub.
In July 2021, an English dub by VSI Los Angeles was released on Netflix JP, along with a French dub by studio Imagine, and dubs in other languages.
