Styrk is a farmer and part of Ivar's gang who joins Thorfinn's journey to settle in Vinland. He is a cunning man who seeks to help Ivar take over Thorfinn’s position as the boss once he fails at settling in Vinland. He is Ivar's younger brother.
Appearance[]
Styrk is a skinny, blonde man who wears a helmet at all times. He has a short, scraggly beard and blue facial tattoos on his cheeks; a circle on one cheek, an X on the other.
Personality[]
Styrk is the brains of Ivar's gang. He advises Ivar on what they should do, and was ultimately the one to convince him to join the expedition to Vinland, explaining that it would be a good opportunity to steal the colony from under Thorfinn when it inevitably fails.
He also functions as the voice of reason, and is often the one to talk Ivar down from violent outbursts.
History[]
Styrk, Ivar , and Ganglati at some point had their farm taken over by Halfdan. Like the other farmers that Halfdan has done this to, he, Ivar, and Ganglati continued to work as Halfdan's serfs.
One day, Styrk, Ivar, and Ganglati listened to Thorfinn's announcement about settling Vinland. While Ivar seemed uninterested, Styrk convinced Ivar to pursue joining the expedition. They did not agree with the rule of no swords and thus reached out to Thorfinn to convince him to allow swords. When they were unsuccessful, Styrk convinced Ivar to smuggle a sword to Vinland, explaining that there would be an opportunity to take over the settlement when Thorfinn fail as the settlement leader.
After the Nords clash with the Lnu, resulting in the deaths of Ivar and Ganglati, Thorfinn and Hild return with some Lnu leaders with the intent to announce a truce. As Einar agrees, having now understood Thorfinn's burden from killing, Styrk is infuriated and mentally denounces Thorfinn and Einar as cowards. He recklessly makes a last ditch effort to kill Gao'oqi to avenge Ivar and Ganglati and reignite the conflict, lest they die for nothing. Einar is able to grab Styrk, preventing his surprise attack on Gao'oqi. Styrk in turn stabs Einar in the neck before he is beheaded by Gao'oqi wielding Ivar's sword, which he encouraged Ivar to bring to Vinland.

Trivia[]
- Styrk has referred to Ivar as "brother" multiple times. In the Japanese version of the manga, he calls Ivar "兄ちゃん", a familiar term of address for one's older brother (Chapter 168).
- It is possible that Ganglati is also their brother, although his relationship to Styrk or Ivar has not been clarified.
